Competition

The Princess Pageant will consist of 2 areas of competition.

Pink/ Purple Wear: This is the outfit of choice for the 3-18-year-old contestants.

Party Dress/ Evening Gown: This is a gown of the contestants choice but must be age-appropriate

Our Ms. Division and Up will compete in 5 areas of competition.

Interview:

Interviews are panel style for six (6) minutes. Many questions will be generated from your fact sheet; however, various types of questions will be asked; be prepared. Current event questions are allowed if it directly relates to your platform.

Dress for interview competition is a business suit, pants suit, or a business dress; we’ve provided photos for examples. Dress as if you were going to a job interview with a company or corporation; a conservative look and dress is highly preferred for interview competition! Points will be deducted for inappropriate interview attire! Shoes can be either pumps, peep toe or slingback heels. Strappy heeled sandals (e.g.: Chinese Laundry) are not considered appropriate shoes for interview competition.

Personal Expression: This is a presentation done in front of the judges and it is 2 minutes and 30 seconds or less. It will be timed, and points will be deducted if you go over the limit. You can wear any attire that fits your topic. Personal Expression can be on any topic (e.g.: your hobbies, platform, family, career, etc.). Feel free to create and use props for your speech; it’s your time to be creative if you wish! Make this your time to be as interesting, informative, or whatever you are trying to convey. You want to capture the judges’ attention; however, content is much more important than creativity and showmanship. Subject matter can be either humorous or serious.

Fun Fashion: Can be any attire of your choosing that you would wear if you were going on a classy day or night out on the town or a very glamorous outing/red carpet event. You may be as creative as you wish with your attire as it reflects you and your personal taste. Full length gowns of any color or style are not considered suitable competition wear. Modeling for this portion is freestyle.

Evening Gown: Your evening gown should touch the floor, all around. If your shoes can be seen while standing still, it’s too short. This is the most elegant part of our competition. Hi-lows are not considered suitable competition wear. Think traditional, “old school” (1990s Miss America) style of modeling with simple, clean turns and body carriage; look on YouTube for examples. Both hands on hips or “power poses” is strongly discouraged in evening gown!
